Seabourn’s UK and EMEA vice-president, Lynn Narraway, has acknowledged the significant impact of travel agents on the company’s expedition cruise sales, particularly highlighting their success with the newly launched Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit. Seabourn’s expedition offerings have not only attracted loyal customers but also drawn interest from new luxury travellers eager for unique experiences such as exploring Antarctica, the Arctic, and the Kimberley region in Australia by ship.
In June, Seabourn initiated a dedicated expedition training month, which Narraway described as ‘fantastic’. Almost 450 travel agents participated in webinars, ship visits, and virtual video tours, enhancing their understanding of the expedition cruise segment. These efforts were part of a broader strategy to engage and educate agents, who also had the chance to win a prize spot on a future Arctic cruise.
The momentum was further supported by Seabourn’s involvement in Clia’s first expedition cruise summit aboard the Seabourn Venture. Many agents expressed keen interest in expanding their knowledge and selling expedition cruises, which are often described as ‘incredible ultra-luxury adventures to rarely visited destinations in both polar and warm weather locales like the South Pacific and the Amazon.’
Seabourn has strengthened its ties with the Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers (Atas) to boost agent engagement in the adventure travel sector. This partnership reflects Seabourn’s commitment to raising awareness of its expedition cruises and supporting agents through social events and the Atas conference.
At the recent Agent Achievement Awards in London, Seabourn brought entertainment that echoed the quality of its onboard shows, featuring performers such as Bradley Jaden and the Barricade Boys. This event also marked the debut appearance of the new UK and EMEA sales director, Tom Andrews, who plans to embark on a road trip to meet trade partners, reaffirming the brand’s dedication to the travel trade, which accounts for nearly 90% of its business.
Seabourn continues to strengthen its position in the expedition market through strategic partnerships and agent training.
