The IDEX 2023 event in Abu Dhabi has drawn significant attention as Saudi Arabia showcased its burgeoning defence capabilities. Hosting an impressive Saudi Pavilion, over 25,000 attendees engaged with the exhibition, emphasising the global interest in the Kingdom’s military industry advancements.
During the five-day show, Saudi Arabia capitalised on the opportunity to highlight its latest achievements in the defence sector, offering numerous investment prospects and strategic partnerships to global investors. Various national institutions, such as the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Investment, were present, underlining the event’s importance.
The Saudi Pavilion served as a platform to announce localisation initiatives and human capital development. Several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed with both regional and global defence firms, indicating Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening its defence capabilities through international cooperation.
Among the 14 companies presenting at the pavilion were notable participants like the Saudi Company for Military Industries and The Middle East Propulsion Company. These firms exemplify Saudi Arabia’s national effort to build a robust and self-reliant defence industry.
The presence of the World Defense Show (WDS), organised by the General Authority for Military Industries, further underscored the Kingdom’s emphasis on solidifying its defence sector. The upcoming WDS, scheduled in Riyadh for February 2024, was prominently featured, promising another platform for advancing Saudi defence interests.
