Sainsbury’s has recently expanded its offering by launching a fresh selection of Taste the Difference ready meals. This initiative aims to cater to consumers who seek convenience without compromising on quality, with each meal priced attractively at £5. The collection comprises ten diverse dishes, promising to satisfy a variety of tastes and preferences. Among the notable dishes are the Smoky Aubergine Tikka Masala and the Harissa & Pomegranate Lamb, both of which reflect a modern twist on traditional cuisines.
Claire Hughes, Sainsbury’s director of product and innovation, emphasised the use of high-quality ingredients in the new range, which introduces contemporary cuisine to a broader audience. These meals are uniquely packaged and designed to provide a satisfying, wholesome dining experience at a competitive price. According to Hughes, the aim is to deliver delicious and hassle-free meal solutions for customers, particularly as they navigate busy schedules.
As the colder months draw in, the demand for warm, convenient meal options has escalated. Sainsbury’s reported a 17% rise in searches for ‘ready meals’ and a 55% surge for ‘healthy ready meals’ in recent weeks. This trend underscores the growing interest in easy-to-prepare, nutritious food options during autumn.
In addition to launching new products, Sainsbury’s has also been enhancing its value proposition in convenience stores. It has become the first UK supermarket to extend its Aldi Price Match scheme to these outlets, committing nearly £1 billion to value improvements over four years. This move is designed to offer reduced prices on essential items such as milk, bread, and other staples, thus ensuring that convenience does not come at the expense of value.
Sainsbury’s new ready meals range reflects its commitment to providing convenient, high-quality food options while maintaining competitive pricing.
