A new partnership brings Sainsbury’s Local and Argos to Coronation Street.
- The store facade has been concealed since July and debuts tonight.
- This collaboration follows Argos renewing its sponsorship with Coronation Street.
- Famous characters will now shop on the iconic cobbles of the soap opera.
- The facade introduction is part of a broader strategy involving retail giants.
The well-known British television soap opera, Coronation Street, is set to feature a new addition to its Victoria Street set with the unveiling of a new Sainsbury’s Local and Argos store facade. This development comes as part of a recent product placement partnership, underlining the continuing support of Argos as it renews its headline sponsorship of the show.
Since July, the facade has been kept under wraps behind boarded sections on the set. Viewers can look forward to seeing this store operational on-screen starting tonight, as the show’s characters incorporate the new feature into their everyday lives. This integration reflects a strategic effort to bring more realism to the set by featuring familiar retail brands.
Laura Boothby, Argos’s head of campaigns, expressed enthusiasm about this development: “We’re looking forward to watching the Coronation Street cast walk the legendary cobbles into our newest Sainsbury’s Local store. We know our customers have been eagerly waiting to spot the new store and we’re thrilled that everyone’s favourite characters, from Ken Barlow to Chesney Brown, can now pick up some groceries or Argos orders quickly and easily on The Street.”
Adding to the excitement, Mark Trinder, ITV’s director of commercial sales and partnerships, commented on the significance of such an addition: “It’s a hugely exciting moment for the store to become part of the famous cobbles and the culmination of a lot of hard work, creativity and collaboration between brands as part of Argos and Sainsbury’s continuing support of the country’s most-watched soap.”
The introduction of Sainsbury’s and Argos follows the departure of other retail giants from the set. Previously, a Co-op store was a staple feature until its closure, marking a transition in the storefront landscape on Victoria Street. This move signals a continued trend of integrating well-known brands into the fabric of the show, further enhancing its connection to real-life urban settings.
The strategic partnership marks a significant evolution in Coronation Street’s portrayal of urban realism through retail collaborations.
