In 2025, Truffle Kerfuffle is set to be reimagined and the not-for-profit community organisation who owns the event, Truffle Kerfuffle Inc., is calling for committee members.
Held annually since 2011 in the heart of Australian truffle country, a 3.5-hour drive south of Perth in Manjimup, Truffle Kerfuffle celebrates the region’s prized black truffle, the tuber melanosporum.
Truffle Kerfuffle Inc. committee member Julia Meldrum is extending an invitation to creative and passionate professionals to join the team.
“We’re looking for some fresh energy, ideas and skills that will contribute to Truffle Kerfuffle’s future, to refresh and reinvigorate an event that’s inclusive, with community at its core,” Ms Meldrum said.
“Truffle Kerfuffle began with the objective to shine a spotlight on our incredible truffles and the Southern Forests region with its bounty of incredible produce – the idea is to go back to grassroots, keep it accessible.”
Manjimup, in Western Australia’s Southern Forests, is the most prolific truffle growing region in the Southern Hemisphere, producing about 85 per cent of all black truffles grown in Australia and fetching prices as high as $3,000 per kilogram.

As the temperatures drop around May each year, Manjimup’s ‘black gold’ is sought-after by chefs across the globe for its consistent high quality, impossible-to-describe taste and unmistakable heady, earthy aroma.
“Truffle Kerfuffle 2025 is likely to look different to past years and we’re currently working on plans as we speak, we’re excited about the future!” Ms Meldrum said.
Truffle Kerfuffle Inc’s annual general meeting will be held on 17 February and interested parties should email the Secretary at board@trufflekerfuffle.com.au by 20 January.
Since the inception of Truffle Kerfuffle and the growth of the truffle industry in the Southern Forests region of Western Australia, food-lovers and tourists have visited in droves to experience a truffle hunt with a trained truffle dog.
Dates and details of Truffle Kerfuffle 2025 will be released in due course.
