His tenure, lasting four years, was marked by transformative changes in the tourism landscape of Qatar, notably doubling the number of international visitors amidst a global pandemic.
Joining Qatar Tourism in 2020, Dickinson was faced with a world at a standstill due to the pandemic. Despite these challenges, he navigated the complex world of tourism to achieve notable successes, including leveraging the global spotlight on Qatar during the FIFA World Cup 2022. This event alone introduced a plethora of new visitors to the country’s hospitable and attractive offerings.
Thanks to Dickinson’s efforts, international visitor numbers soared from 2.1 million in 2019 to just over 4 million last year. He continued this upward trend into 2024, with a remarkable 28% increase in international visitors during the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2023. His strategic vision has undeniably positioned Qatar as a burgeoning force on the tourism map.
Expressing heartfelt thanks to global trade partners, Dickinson acknowledged their role in supporting Qatar’s tourism boom. His collaboration with these stakeholders has been instrumental in driving success and sustaining the country’s tourism growth. He is optimistic about future partnerships and remains eager to continue contributing to the industry in a new capacity.
