Primark’s strategic expansion into New York City marks a significant milestone for the brand as it aims to establish a robust presence in the United States. The signing of a lease for a store in Manhattan’s Herald Square places Primark at a pivotal location, set to attract substantial commuter footfall from nearby Penn Station.
The new store spans 54,000 square feet over four floors, serving as Primark’s flagship location in the US. With offerings in fashion, homewares, and beauty, Primark aims to cater to the broad customer base within New York City and beyond.
While the exact opening date for the Manhattan store remains undisclosed, it is planned to launch following the opening of another store at the Queens Center later this year. This expansion reflects Primark’s broader strategy to introduce 60 stores in the US by 2026.
Since its initial US store opening in Boston in 2015, Primark has seen rapid growth, with a current operation of 27 stores across 11 states, including prominent locations in Illinois, Florida, and Massachusetts. The retailer also anticipates its first Texas store later this year.
According to Primark US President Kevin Tulip, the choice of Herald Square was driven by the site’s high foot traffic and its capacity to draw customers already familiar with Primark’s offerings in other boroughs. “Opening a location in the epicenter of US fashion is going to be an exciting milestone,” he noted.
Primark’s strategic move into Manhattan underscores its commitment to expanding its US footprint and enhancing its brand presence.
