Poundstretcher, under the new ownership of private equity firm Fortress, has executed a strategic talent acquisition by hiring key executives from Morrisons to enhance its commercial and store operations teams. This move follows the appointment of Andy Atkinson, Morrisons’ former commercial director, as Poundstretcher’s CEO earlier this year, highlighting a clear strategy to infuse the company with seasoned expertise.
Miles Foster, who has dedicated 35 years of service to Morrisons, steps into the role of Operations Director at Poundstretcher. He is tasked with overseeing the management of over 300 stores and spearheading the company’s growth initiatives. Foster’s substantial experience is expected to contribute significantly to the operational efficacy of the retail chain.
Adding to the calibre of leadership, Tony Fearon and Liz Harris join the team as Group Commercial Director and Head of Retail Operations, respectively. Fearon’s team benefits from the inclusion of Connor Black, previously a buying executive at Morrisons, now head of trading for pets, and Kyle Storey, an ex-Poundland executive, as head of trading for FMCG.
The operational team under Liz Harris receives a considerable boost with the appointments of Annette Beecham, a former Home Bargains and B&M regional manager, and Mandy Fitzpatrick, who will lead the loss prevention team, drawing from her expertise as Poundland’s head of central operations. These strategic recruitments are set to enhance the operational disciplines across the board.
CEO Andy Atkinson articulates his enthusiasm, stating, “As we start this long and important journey, I am delighted that such a talented group of leaders have chosen to take the next step in their careers with us. These people are the best in the industry and share our values in supporting our colleagues, and putting customers first. These are exciting times ahead for Poundstretcher.” This statement underscores the leadership’s commitment to strengthening the company’s position through experienced industry professionals.
Poundstretcher’s strategic recruitment drive signifies a robust commitment to enhance its operational and commercial prowess, positioning the company for future growth.
