Poundstretcher has recently made significant changes in its leadership team, targeting future growth.
- Miles Foster, with 35 years at Morrisons, joins as Group Operations Director.
- Liz Harris, formerly of Morrisons, will lead the Retail Operations team.
- Tony Fearon takes on the role of Group Commercial Director, also from Morrisons.
- CEO Andy Atkinson expresses excitement over the new leadership’s potential.
Poundstretcher has embarked on an ambitious strategy to fortify its leadership ranks as it lays down plans for sustained expansion. In a notable move, Miles Foster has been appointed as Group Operations Director, bringing with him over three decades of experience from Morrisons. Foster will directly report to CEO Andy Atkinson, who himself transitioned from a senior role at Morrisons earlier this year, post Poundstretcher’s acquisition by Fortress Investment Group.
In his new capacity, Foster will oversee the operations across more than 300 Poundstretcher stores. His mandate includes steering the retailer’s growth agenda and reinforcing operational efficiencies. Alongside him, Liz Harris, who accumulated nearly 20 years at Morrisons, will spearhead the Retail Operations team, having departed the supermarket chain in 2022.
Strengthening the commercial operations further, Tony Fearon has been integrated into the team as Group Commercial Director. Fearon, another Morrisons veteran, was appointed this summer. Complementing the commercial team, Kyle Storey assumes the role of Head of Trading for FMCG, while Connor Black takes charge of trading for pet products.
Moreover, the team has been bolstered with the likes of Annette Beecham and Mandy Fitzpatrick, who are entrusted with regional management and loss prevention respectively, following their successful tenures at other discount retailers. New area managers Tim Dearing, Simon Smith, and James MacTavish bring diverse expertise gained from B&M, One Beyond, Morrisons, and Asda.
CEO Andy Atkinson, voicing his confidence in the revamped leadership team, remarked, “As we start this long and important journey, I am delighted that such a talented group of leaders have chosen to take the next step in their careers with us. These people are the best in the industry, and share our values in supporting our colleagues, and putting customers first.” The leadership changes reflect a strategic alignment with experienced professionals aiming for a transformative impact on the company’s future trajectory.
Poundstretcher’s strategic leadership appointments signal a robust commitment to driving growth and operational excellence.
