Plaza Collection, a prominent fashion brand established in 1982, is undertaking a significant expansion project in Salford, supported by a £7 million investment aimed at elevating its operational capabilities. The company has submitted proposals to construct a new headquarters, inclusive of offices, a showroom, and a warehouse, on a site it possesses along Bury New Road, Salford. This strategic move aims to enhance the company’s infrastructure, which has witnessed substantial growth necessitating a larger operational base.
The enterprise, which currently circulates approximately 25,000 garments weekly through wholesale and online channels, is poised to expand its workforce significantly. The addition of 50 new roles will bolster the current staff complement by 50%, underscoring the brand’s ambition to scale its operations to meet rising consumer demand.
Currently operating from OM House in Cheetham Hill, Plaza Collection has found its present premises inadequate for its expanding business needs. This prompted the company to seek a suitable location for over five years, culminating in the decision to redevelop an existing site to meet its extensive spatial requirements.
The project plans to redevelop the former car dealership structures, incorporating a five-storey storage unit. Moreover, the introduction of a standalone self-storage facility intended for leasing will provide an ancillary income source, independent of the main business operations, further exemplifying the strategic foresight of the company.
Salford City Council is currently reviewing the planning application, with a determination expected before the year concludes. The successful approval of this project will facilitate Plaza Collection’s strategic growth while contributing positively to the local economy by creating job opportunities and revamping existing infrastructure.
Plaza Collection’s proposed headquarters marks a strategic enhancement of its operational capacity, contingent on planning approval.
