PD Ports, in a move to bolster its operational fleet, has taken delivery of 10 MAN TGX 6×2 tractors through a five-year leasing arrangement with Dawsongroup. The acquisition underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing both capacity and safety within its logistics operations. Each vehicle comes fitted with state-of-the-art safety features such as audible handbrake systems, driver alert notifications, and talking reverse alarms, all of which are complemented by smoke alarms and compliance with the Direct Vision Standard (DVS).
Engineering Services Manager Gary Archer highlighted the longstanding relationship with Dawsongroup, noting, “Our business continues to grow, so a high proportion of these are fleet additions.” Archer further emphasised the positive experience PD Ports has had with Dawsongroup over the past six years, particularly in managing repair and maintenance contracts that minimise potential downtimes.
The newly acquired tractors will be integrated into the company’s Groveport Logistics fleet. They will operate out of the Groveport facility, a significant inland complex located on the River Trent. This strategically positioned site, occupying 190 acres, is tailored for handling diverse cargo such as steel, forest products, and dry bulk. Its proximity, just three miles from the UK’s motorway network, affords it sea access via the Humber Estuary, making it a pivotal point for trade and transportation.
In addition to vehicle upgrades, PD Ports continues to enhance its operational capabilities with investments in infrastructure, including a recently unveiled £500,000 warehouse at Groveport. This facility aims to boost trade efficiencies and reduce costs for customers as part of a broader strategy to escalate business growth along the Humber.
The strategic enhancements and investments by PD Ports at Groveport illustrate a robust commitment to operational efficiency and growth.
