NodeLink today announced the launch of the NX1, the first in a planned series of node devices that will form the hardware backbone of the company’s Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN). The NX1 allows any household with a broadband connection to join the NodeLink grid and participate in its network rewards program by contributing unused internet bandwidth and local computing resources. It plugs directly into a router, requires no technical expertise, and begins contributing to the network immediately after setup.
The NX1 launch marks the opening chapter of NodeLink’s broader hardware roadmap. Additional devices are planned for future release, each designed to expand the network’s capabilities and deepen its reach — sustaining the vision of a decentralized infrastructure built on everyday households rather than corporate-owned data centers. Unlike traditional cloud services that route traffic through remote facilities, the NodeLink grid processes workloads at the network edge, closer to end users, reducing latency and improving resilience.
NX1 Capabilities and Integrated Services
Beyond bandwidth sharing, the NX1 activates a device’s dormant CPU and RAM to handle localized processing tasks demanded by modern AI services and secure data transmission. Each unit is engineered as a multi-tenant platform — a foundation on which future NodeLink devices and third-party DePIN projects can layer additional capabilities, covering compute, storage, mapping, and more, without building independent physical networks from scratch.
All NX1 participants receive a five-year suite of premium digital services at no additional cost, including an enterprise-grade VPN, an integrated ad blocker, and AI-driven security tools designed to protect against evolving online threats. These services, which typically carry significant annual subscription fees, are bundled as a direct benefit of hosting a node.
“The internet was designed to be distributed, but the infrastructure that powers it became anything but. The NX1 puts that power back in people’s hands — literally in their living rooms. Every node that comes online strengthens a grid that is faster, more private, and owned by no single corporation,” said Charbel Zalaquett Founder of NodeLink.
Building the Foundation Layer for All Future DePIN Projects
NodeLink is positioning the NX1 grid as what it calls the “DePIN of DePINs” — an open foundational layer on which any future decentralized physical infrastructure project can build. Rather than requiring each new DePIN venture to invest in its own hardware rollout, third-party projects will be able to deploy software and services directly onto the NodeLink grid, dramatically lowering the barrier to entry for the next generation of decentralized applications.
The NX1 is available now, with additional devices in the NodeLink hardware series planned for future release. Households interested in joining the network can register at nodelink.now to receive device and onboarding information. Early participants gain priority access to the NodeLink rewards program as the grid and its device ecosystem expand globally.
