National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) has announced that its IMERG algorithm, which provides estimates of precipitation every 30 minutes from near-real time satellite observations, began predicting rainfall along the inner core of Hurricane Dorian the week of August 26, the administration said.
Total rainfall at a particular location varies with the forward speed of the hurricane, with the size of the hurricane´s wind field, and with how vigorous the updrafts are in the hurricane´s eyewall.
NASA said it has been providing status updates on the storm on Florida´s central east coast.
