In a strategic move, the N Brown Group has announced plans to reduce its workforce by over 100 positions at its Manchester headquarters. This reduction is closely aligned with the company’s transition to becoming a privately held entity under the Alliance family’s ownership.
The consultation process, which commenced last month, involves approximately 200 employees and aims to conclude with 105 job cuts by the end of October. These cuts are not limited to the company’s head office but also extend to the supply chain hub, affecting seven roles.
The departments facing reductions include buying, merchandising, trading, logistics, finance, data, and creative. This broad spread of cuts highlights a comprehensive organisational review aimed at enhancing efficiency and sustainable growth.
The offer by Joshua Alliance, a non-executive director at N Brown, to acquire the company through Falcon 24 Topco at a price of 40p per share, set the context for these structural changes. The company has emphasised that the redundancy plans are independent of the acquisition discussions, which they assert were devised prior.
In a statement released via the London Stock Exchange, N Brown affirmed its commitment to fulfilling legal and regulatory duties concerning the redundancy process. Additionally, a company spokesperson stressed that these decisions, though difficult, are part of a broader strategic transformation intended to unlock long-term potential for the business.
N Brown is navigating a critical phase of transformation, aligning its workforce with a strategic vision for sustainable growth amid significant organisational changes.
