Mulberry, a renowned British luxury brand, has successfully achieved B Corp certification, joining an esteemed list of businesses committed to high environmental and social standards. Scoring 87.1 out of 140, Mulberry surpassed the industry average, reflecting its dedication to sustainability.
The B Corp assessment rigorously evaluated Mulberry’s governance, workforce, environmental impact, community engagement, and customer relationships. Achieving this certification underscores Mulberry’s commitment to sustainability through its five Cs: climate, cultivation, craft, circularity, and culture. These pillars are central to the brand’s operational strategy.
Mulberry has set ambitious goals to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035. The brand plans to cultivate partnerships with regenerative farmers and establish comprehensive supply chains that prioritise sustainability. Additionally, Mulberry intends to expand its resale and repair programme, Mulberry Exchange, to new international markets including Korea, Australia, and Japan.
The company’s ethical practices extend beyond the environment. Mulberry pays the Real Living Wage to its employees and is actively working with suppliers to ensure they adhere to the same standards. This initiative reflects the brand’s commitment to social responsibility and equitable economic practices.
Since the appointment of Andrea Baldo as CEO in July, Mulberry has reinforced its strategic focus on sustainability and ethical practices. Baldo emphasised, “Mulberry is one of the first global luxury brands to become a B Corp, and this reflects the DNA of the company and the hard work of the teams.” His leadership is pivotal in driving these values forward.
Mulberry’s B Corp certification not only signifies a milestone for the company but also sets an example for the fashion industry. This achievement highlights a growing trend among luxury brands to embrace rigorous standards for the betterment of the community and the environment.
Mulberry’s B Corp achievement is a testament to its unwavering dedication to sustainability and social responsibility.
