MSC Cruises has confirmed that the naming ceremony for its latest flagship, the MSC Euribia, is scheduled to occur in Copenhagen on 8 June. This significant event marks the introduction of the line’s second vessel powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), underscoring the company’s dedication to advanced environmentally sustainable maritime technologies.
The MSC Euribia will embark on its inaugural season beginning 10 June. The initial journeys will encompass seven-night voyages from Kiel, Germany, as well as from Copenhagen, traversing the iconic Norwegian fjords. Such itineraries are designed to offer passengers an immersive experience of Scandinavia’s renowned natural beauty.
In a significant expansion of its operational scope, MSC Euribia will reposition to Southampton from October 2023, where it will continue to operate throughout the winter of 2023/24. Passengers will have the opportunity to embark on five-night sailings starting at £359 per person, seven-night voyages from £499 per person, and an extensive 21-night itinerary departing on 5 January 2024. This journey includes stops at captivating destinations like Casablanca, the Canary Islands, and Lisbon.
Antonio Paradiso, MSC Cruises UK & Ireland Managing Director, expressed commitment to providing exceptional experiences for guests from the UK and Ireland. He noted the burgeoning demand for stress-free, no-fly cruises from Southampton, attributed to experiences onboard the current UK-based MSC Virtuosa. Paradiso emphasised that the introduction of MSC Euribia, a vessel heralded for its leading sustainability technology and design, would enhance cruise offerings available to UK customers.
A recent global branding campaign launched by MSC emphasises its strategic focus on sustainability. A key feature of this campaign is a one-minute television advertisement filmed aboard the company’s first LNG-powered ship, MSC World Europa, which entered service late last year. This initiative reflects MSC’s broader environmental commitment and aligns with the long-term growth strategies that remain central to its operational ethos.
The forthcoming launch of MSC Euribia not only expands MSC Cruises’ fleet but also reinforces its ongoing dedication to sustainability and innovative ship design.
