Morrisons has announced a substantial £1.4 billion commitment to support British farming in 2025. This investment is designed to bolster UK agriculture by advancing previously planned support measures.
In a bid to assist farmers, Morrisons will offer a 5% discount applicable both in stores and online. This discount extends to livestock suppliers of lamb, beef, and pork, dairy farmers with contracts, as well as egg farmers and fruit and vegetable growers directly supplying the supermarket.
The initiative is a part of Morrison’s broader strategy to support UK agriculture, which already includes long-term contracts and cash flow initiatives aimed at sustaining farm operations.
Rami Baitiéh, CEO of Morrisons, reiterated the company’s dedication to British farmers, describing them as “unsung heroes” who play a vital role in providing home-grown food. He highlighted the investment as a testament to Morrisons’ commitment to long-term relationships and practical support.
The ‘For Farmers’ range, which enables consumers to support food producers directly, has already raised more than £25 million for the industry. This range currently features products like milk, eggs, cheese, and cream, with plans to broaden the selection in the coming months.
Morrisons recently expanded its ‘For Farmers’ initiative by introducing a white egg pack in its Chuckle Eggs range. For every half dozen boxes sold, 6p is donated back to farmers, further supporting the agricultural community.
Morrisons’ £1.4bn investment reaffirms its commitment to British agriculture, promising sustained support and collaboration.
