Moody Logistics is set to increase its palletised delivery operations by 20% through a new agreement with Fortec for distribution in the North East.
- This strategic move includes hiring two new HGV drivers to manage the anticipated rise in delivery volumes.
- The company will operate from Fortec’s East Midlands hub, aiming to maximise its return journeys by securing additional freight.
- The decision to partner with Moody was influenced by its strong relationship with the Pall-Ex Group, Fortec’s parent company.
- This collaboration marks a significant growth opportunity for both Moody Logistics and Fortec within the regional network.
Moody Logistics, a family business based in Cramlington, has announced a significant growth in its palletised delivery sector, projecting a 20% increase following its selection by Fortec to handle distribution in the North East. This ambitious expansion has already prompted the hiring of two new HGV drivers, a testament to the company’s forward-thinking strategy on logistics and workforce management.
Operating from Fortec’s central hub in the East Midlands, Moody Logistics aims to enhance its logistical efficiency by loading additional freight for the southbound leg of trips. This approach not only optimises vehicle utilisation but also aims to minimise empty return journeys, thereby boosting revenue potential.
Fortec’s decision to appoint Moody Logistics was partly due to its enduring relationship with the Pall-Ex Group, which acquired Fortec in 2020. Barry Byers, Managing Director of Pall-Ex Group, remarked that Moody was an ‘obvious choice’ due to their consistent delivery of quality services, indicating strong confidence in Moody’s operational capabilities.
Caroline Moody, Managing Director of Moody Logistics, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, describing it as an essential growth opportunity. She highlighted the importance of the new role within the Fortec network, which aligns with Moody Logistics’ goal of reducing empty miles and increasing freight loads for enhanced revenue.
Recent statistics from the Association of Pallet Networks (APN) underscore a general growth trend in the sector, with a 1.5% increase in pallet volumes in the first half of 2024, further emphasising the timeliness of this strategic partnership.
Moody Logistics’ partnership with Fortec is set to significantly enhance its operational capacity and regional service delivery.
