Celebrating two decades in the travel industry, a Midlands-based travel agency marked this remarkable milestone with a grand charity ball, bringing together loyal customers and suppliers. The event took place at Hinckley Golf Club, with managing director Paul Moss expressing immense pride in the agency’s achievements since its inception in 2004.
Paul Moss, along with business partners George Reynolds and Patrick Chong, founded the agency’s first branch in Hinckley, Leicestershire, on June 18, 2004. Over twenty years, the agency has expanded to four branches across Leicestershire, starting from a modest team of two to now employing 23 staff members. The agency’s significant growth is further highlighted by its inaugural overseas conference last year, with a second planned for later in 2024.
In reflection of the agency’s journey, Paul Moss expressed admiration for the agency’s resilience and growth over the years. He emphasised the challenges faced by independent travel agencies, particularly during tumultuous periods in the travel industry, noting, “It is a massive achievement for an independent agency to last 20 years, especially after everything the travel industry has been through in that time.”
Moss also underscored the agency’s strong performance post-pandemic, proudly stating that 2023 had been the best trading year for the agency. With high hopes for 2024, Moss conveyed optimism, expecting to surpass the previous year’s achievements. He accentuated the loyalty of both customers and suppliers, attributing 80% of the agency’s sales to nine tour operators.
Looking ahead, while expansion is on the horizon, Moss indicated that the focus remains on sustainable growth and securing the right talent, rather than rapid expansion. “We are a slow burner and we will grow accordingly. It’s all about getting the right staff on board,” he remarked, indicating some potential plans for further growth without compromising quality and service.
The anniversary celebration also served a philanthropic purpose, successfully raising over £10,000 for charity. Contributions were distributed equally between the neonatal unit at Leicester Hospital and the Albion Foundation, showcasing the agency’s commitment to giving back to the community. Moss expressed gratitude for the generosity exhibited, noting that the original target of £6,000 was notably surpassed.
The Midlands agency, celebrating 20 fruitful years, looks forward to continued growth and community support.
