Intercounty Truck & Van, a Mercedes-Benz dealership, has announced a significant investment of £2m to launch a new service and parts site in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. This major development is expected to make a substantial impact on the local economy with the creation of 30 new jobs. Located at the strategic Woodside Industrial Estate, the dealership aims to serve the community and its surroundings with dedicated facilities just minutes from key transport links like the M1 and London Luton Airport.
The new facility will feature an elaborate workshop designed for servicing and maintenance of all types of vans, coupled with over-the-counter parts availability and cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) facilities. Among the offerings are eight EV charging points, indicating a clear move towards supporting sustainable transport solutions.
To ensure uninterrupted service to its clientele, the dealership will operate three 24-hour service vans. These vans are set to provide around-the-clock roadside assistance and emergency visits to customer sites. Notably, there are also plans to extend full 24-hour servicing capabilities in the future, minimising downtime and enhancing service reliability for customers.
Intercounty Truck & Van is also making significant strides in technician training, emphasising the recruitment of skilled professionals through an apprentice programme. The focus extends to the Mercedes-Benz EV technical training pathway, allowing technicians to engage with advanced vehicle technologies. This initiative is instrumental in fostering local talent and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Nick Skillman, managing director of Intercounty Truck & Van, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture, highlighting its potential to strengthen both business operations and the local economy. He cited the dealership’s strategic location as a pivotal factor that meets the demands of a community committed to sustainability.
Supporting this view, Simon Neill, Mercedes-Benz Vans UK customer operations director, underscored the longstanding partnership with Intercounty Truck & Van and the variety of services that the new site will offer. Neill also noted the dealership’s role in bolstering the Mercedes-Benz Vans brand network by attracting fresh talent and expertise.
