McLaren Construction has embarked on an ambitious £13 million project to augment the infrastructure at Manchester Airport’s World Freight Terminal. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to expand the terminal’s capacity and enhance its logistical capabilities, crucial for meeting the rising demands of airport operations.
The project, commissioned by Columbia Threadneedle Investments, involves the construction of a new 92,000 square foot warehouse. This facility, strategically placed to the west of the airport, is designed to bolster the terminal’s capacity to manage freight and improve overall efficiency in the logistics domain.
This development follows a prior phase where McLaren successfully completed a 100,000 square foot warehouse, subdivided into three commercial units with integrated office spaces. The current phase promises to be equally transformative, incorporating modern industrial units and a comprehensive range of external works, including office accommodations and meticulous landscaping.
The construction timeline is set at 50 weeks, during which McLaren will manage all facets of the build, from the erection of the structures to the development of access roads and landscaping. This commitment to a rigorous schedule underlines McLaren’s expertise in executing high-quality projects within complex environments.
Gary Cramp, managing director of McLaren Construction for the Midlands & North, highlighted the pivotal nature of the B4 development project. He stated, ‘The B4 project is an essential part of the airport’s ongoing development, providing much-needed industrial and logistics space. With our experience in delivering high-quality projects in complex environments, we are confident that this new facility will play a key role in supporting the airport’s growth and operational needs.’
The new warehouse development by McLaren is set to significantly advance Manchester Airport’s logistical capabilities and operational growth.
