McCulla Ireland has strategically bolstered its operational capacity by integrating 33 new S.KO Cool Smart refrigerated trailers into its fleet. This acquisition highlights the company’s continued commitment to enhancing its logistics capabilities and maintaining a cutting-edge fleet.
This latest addition strengthens McCulla Ireland’s longstanding partnership with Schmitz Cargobull, a relationship that has flourished over the past decade. According to Brian Beattie, Operations Director at McCulla, the company initially transitioned to Schmitz Cargobull in 2008, and since then, the trailers have proven to be robust and of superior build quality.
Each of the new semi-trailers is meticulously crafted to meet bespoke specifications, incorporating both single and multi-temperature capabilities. The inclusion of Schmitz Cargobull’s TrailerConnect telematics system ensures McCulla Ireland can monitor and optimise its operations efficiently, while the robust galvanised Modulus bolted chassis is indicative of high durability and is backed by a 10-year anti-rust warranty.
The choice to partner with Schmitz Cargobull is further justified by the technical advantages these trailers offer. Notably, their segmented design facilitates easy maintenance, allowing McCulla’s in-house technicians to replace damaged panels individually—a critical feature for sea crossings between Ireland and the mainland UK.
McCulla Ireland’s operational model is comprehensive, spanning the transportation of everything from frozen foods to pharmaceuticals. With cold-stores capable of housing up to 15,000 pallets, the company also provides significant value-added services, such as blast freezing and tempering, challenging the limits of conventional logistics.
Looking to the future, the impending introduction of a pharmaceutical specification trailer with advanced load security features reflects McCulla Ireland’s proactive stance in adapting to specific customer demands. This new trailer will utilise a double deck loading beam system capable of transporting up to 66 pallets per load, signifying a major stride in McCulla’s service offerings.
McCulla Ireland’s fleet expansion underscores its commitment to logistics excellence and adaptability in a competitive market.
