Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has reported a significant increase in passenger numbers, with June figures rising by 7% to 6.3 million compared to the same month last year. This marks a significant milestone for MAG, which encompasses Manchester, Stansted, and East Midlands airports. Both Manchester and Stansted have experienced record-breaking months, illustrating the robust recovery in air travel demand.
Manchester airport witnessed a 6.7% increase year-on-year, welcoming three million passengers in June. Meanwhile, Stansted airport’s passenger numbers soared by 8.3%, reaching 2.8 million. East Midlands airport also showed positive growth, albeit at a slower pace, serving more than 500,000 passengers, which represents a 3.1% increase compared to last year. This growth trajectory underscores MAG’s strategic positioning and operational efficiency.
A noteworthy achievement for MAG is the swift security processing times. At East Midlands, all passengers passed through security in under 15 minutes. At both Manchester and Stansted, 97% of passengers reported similarly quick processing times. Nine out of ten passengers rated their experience as either ‘excellent’, ‘very good’, or ‘good’, reflecting MAG’s consistent focus on customer satisfaction.
In the financial year concluding on March 31, MAG facilitated the travel of 61.3 million passengers, resulting in revenues of £1.2 billion.
