In a significant achievement, Lyca Radio was awarded Radio Station of the Year at the prestigious 2024 Asian Media Awards. This recognition follows its strategic expansion into the Greater Manchester area with a successful takeover of Asian Sound Radio. The award emphasises Lyca Radio’s growing influence and its commitment to delivering quality content to its listeners.
Lyca Radio’s recent endeavours have not just limited to Manchester. The station broadened its horizons by launching a DAB variant in Leicestershire earlier this month. This move underscores the network’s ambition to increase its reach and cater to a wider audience.
Acquiring frequencies from Asian Sound Radio in December 2023, Lyca Radio rebranded the station as Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester. This strategic decision allowed the station to consolidate its presence in the North West, positioning itself as a leading voice in the Asian broadcasting community.
In addition to this coveted award, Lyca Radio secured nominations in three other categories, including Best Radio Show and Radio Presenter of the Year. This highlights the station’s excellence in various aspects of radio broadcasting and its ability to engage audiences effectively.
Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Radio Network, expressed his gratitude following the award win, stating that it was a testament to the team’s hard work. “This award is a testament to my team’s incredible work over the past year and beyond. We have also been celebrating our recent RAJAR figures, which put the Lyca Group stations (Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold) at No.1 as the leading commercial Asian radio network in London,” he mentioned.
The Asian Media Awards, recognised for honouring Asian achievements in media and arts for over a decade, presented Lyca Radio with this award, marking its second consecutive victory since their first in 2022.
Lyca Radio’s recent accolade at the Asian Media Awards exemplifies its dedication to expanding its influence and offering quality broadcasting content.
