A renowned London law firm has embarked on an innovative collaboration with an established esports business, heralding the creation of a specialised talent management agency dedicated to esports and online talent. This partnership signifies the law firm’s strategic entry into the burgeoning esports arena.
Feenix Talent, the newly launched agency, intends to fill a distinct gap in the market by providing comprehensive talent management solutions specifically tailored for esports professionals. According to William Bowyer, an associate at Lawrence Stephens, this venture represents an unprecedented alliance where a well-established agency collaborates directly with a law firm to enhance its service offering.
The initial talent roster of Feenix Talent boasts prominent figures such as rapper P-Money, EA FC streamers The Gara Show and RoccosEleven, cosplayer Spillthetea, and professional Fortnite player Hen, among others. The law firm has taken a minority stake in Feenix Talent, marking its first investment of this kind.
William Bowyer, a director of Feenix Talent, emphasised that this sector is relatively new, with potential for significant growth. The agency aims to leverage its expertise in traditional sports to support the development of a robust client base within the e-gaming sector.
Esports athletes, who compete for substantial cash prizes, and content creators, with their vast audiences on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, will receive full support in terms of contract management and intellectual property protection. Mr Bowyer highlighted that, “All the clients onboarded via the agency will be formal clients of the law firm,” ensuring professional legal backing for their endeavours.
Feenix Talent will function as part of the Feenix Group, complementing its other divisions: Feenix Studio, Feenix Agency, and Feenix Esports. These divisions collectively focus on creating engaging branded experiences, youth marketing, and serving as a sponsorship broker within the esports sector, helping teams connect and grow.
Moreover, the law firm is poised to offer a spectrum of IP-related services, encompassing image rights, trademark protection, and safeguarding brand images in client contracts. Feenix Talent promises broader support in areas like career planning, branding, and wealth management.
Mr Bowyer, who also provides legal services to elite footballers and various brands, noted the importance for esports professionals to distinguish themselves by building unique brands, which is crucial for long-term success. “We are delighted to partner with Feenix Group to bolster their offering by enhancing their suite of services for young professionals and top talent within this growing industry.”
This partnership marks a pioneering step in integrating legal expertise with esports talent management, promising substantial growth and support for the industry.
