As a Gold Patron of Veterans into Logistics, Armstrong Logistics has recruited two former military members and is sponsoring three more, funding their training to become fully qualified HGV drivers. The relationship between Armstrong Logistics and Veterans into Logistics emerged from a fundraising event held last year. Chairman Justin Armstrong, moved by the charity’s success in helping veterans re-establish their lives, decided to support the cause wholeheartedly. ‘We needed to help these veterans who have loyally served our country,’ Armstrong stated, explaining the decision to reduce reliance on agency drivers in favour of those benefiting from Veterans into Logistics.
Founded in 2020 by former veteran Darren Wright, the charity was born out of personal experiences and a recognised need to assist veterans facing post-service challenges, including mental health issues. Harnessing the skills acquired during their military service, Wright advocates for the empowerment of veterans through employment and training.
The charity’s success is evident, having trained 500 veterans with a target of 100 annually. This ambitious goal is supported by notable figures such as Labour Deputy Leader Angela Rayner and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, who serve as ambassadors.
