In a strategic move reminiscent of Coca-Cola’s iconic holiday campaign, Lidl is launching its inaugural Christmas truck tour across the UK. The event will see a 20-metre, 15-tonne truck, branded with Lidl’s Freeway cola, making its way through nine cities. This includes notable stops in Dundee, Harrogate, and Wolverhampton, aiming to spread festive cheer between 14 November and 1 December.
The tour is designed not only to promote Lidl’s brand but also to engage directly with communities. More than 2,000 present boxes will be distributed from the truck on a first-come, first-served basis. These boxes will contain a selection of items from Lidl’s ‘middle aisle,’ known for its eclectic mix of products.
Each city on the tour will experience a touch of festive generosity, as the truck offers selected customers a £100 discount on their food shopping. Moreover, it will provide a range of festive foods, adding to the seasonal spirit.
Lidl’s marketing director, Joanna Gomer, has stated the retailer’s commitment to giving back to communities. She notes that by touring these select locations, the truck not only delivers gifts and festive foods but also brings joy and a sense of unity to the areas it visits. “Look out for the Freeway truck on its tour and most importantly, come join the fun,” she adds, highlighting the interactive nature of the tour.
Lidl’s festive truck tour is set to bring joy and community engagement to various UK cities this holiday season.
