In a move to inspire generosity this Christmas, Lidl has unveiled its 2024 advert focused on the joy of giving. The 60-second feature, aired on 3 November across ITV1 and various social media platforms, weaves a touching narrative centred around a young girl’s altruistic wish. The storyline begins with a narrator introducing the notion of magic available for “all but one,” focusing on a young boy observing other children joyously sledging, yet remaining on the sidelines due to his perceived disadvantage.
As the scene unfolds, a girl notices the boy’s plight. An elderly woman advises her that wishes come true when bells ring. Upon returning home, family members whimsically wish for fantastical items like giant gingerbread men and transformed vegetables. However, the girl’s sincere wish is to gift her Lidl woolly hat to the boy she saw earlier that day, spotlighting the theme of selflessness.
This narrative aligns with Lidl’s broader festive initiative: a nationwide in-store Christmas Toy Bank in partnership with the charity Neighbourly. Running until 16 December, this endeavour invites customers to contribute new, unopened toys, games, books, puzzles, and art supplies at any Lidl location globally. These donations will be distributed to children locally, meeting a critical need as 97% of Lidl’s charity network requires toy donations this season.
