Langdons, a prominent chilled and ambient food transport specialist, has strategically expanded its operations by acquiring Long Lane Deliveries. This move aligns with Langdons’ parent company, STEF’s, overarching goal to solidify its position as a European leader in the food supply chain. By integrating Long Lane’s resources, Langdons aims to enhance its geographical reach and capability in serving food manufacturers, retailers, and out-of-home suppliers.
Established in 2002, Long Lane Deliveries has fostered a robust collaboration with Langdons over the years. As a family-run entity, Long Lane excels in the transportation of chilled, frozen, and ambient food products throughout Scotland and the UK. With a workforce of 330 employees and a fleet of 140 vehicles, the company operates from its facilities located in Bellshill, near Glasgow, and Dundee. The strategic acquisition is expected to reinforce Langdons’ operational capacity across these key logistics hubs.
Langdons itself, as a key division within the STEF Group since 2022, is highly specialised in the transport of temperature-controlled goods within the UK. The company boasts a substantial fleet of 750 vehicles and employs 1,400 individuals across multiple sites, including those in strategic locations like Barnsley, Bridgwater, Dover, Luton, Redditch, Peterborough, Liverpool, and Motherwell. This vast network enables Langdons to manage nearly 2.7 million pallets annually for a diverse customer base of 2,000.
The acquisition was positively received by stakeholders from both companies. Arran Osman, Managing Director of Langdons, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that both companies share a commitment to customer-centric values and possess complementary operational strengths. James and David Myles, the directors of Long Lane Deliveries, echoed this sentiment, viewing the merger as a unique opportunity to expand their service capabilities within a robust corporate framework like that of STEF.
The acquisition signifies a pivotal step in enhancing logistical capabilities and market presence in the UK food transport sector.
