The recent acquisition of Ningbo London by Kings Transport marks a pivotal expansion for the North Weald-based firm, enhancing its operational footprint across the Essex area. This strategic move will see the business rebranded as Ningbo Logistics under Kings Transport Holdings’ umbrella, further diversifying its service offerings.
With this acquisition, Kings Transport will bolster its workforce to 103 employees and augment its fleet from 40 to 51 vehicles. Additionally, the warehousing capacity will witness a substantial increase from 90,000 square feet to 122,000 square feet, enabling more comprehensive service delivery.
This acquisition follows Kings Transport’s strategic diversification efforts initiated in 2008 when the company joined the Palletline network. Notably, the network contributed to a significant portion of Kings Transport’s turnover, escalating from an initial 19% to 55% by 2022.
Ningbo London, incorporated into the Palletline Logistics network only two years ago to maintain service integrity, already plays a vital role in logistics solutions and network freight distribution throughout Essex. The company also became a member of the Hazchem network in 2023, underscoring its commitment to comprehensive logistics solutions.
Kings Transport’s CEO, Martin King, highlighted the significance of this acquisition, stating, “This is a significant opportunity for Kings Transport, enhancing our capabilities in transport and warehousing, and marking a considerable milestone for our business.”
Paul Elson, Managing Director of Palletline Logistics, supported this sentiment, recognising the alignment of business visions between the two organisations, fostering a strong foundation for future growth.
Founded 45 years ago by Steve King, Kings Transport has evolved from its initial focus on removals and storage. The company’s founder, who remains on the board, initiated this growth trajectory by joining the Palletline network, strategically enhancing the company’s service spectrum over the years.
This acquisition signifies a transformative step for Kings Transport, with promising growth and expanded capabilities on the horizon.
