Insight Vacations has launched a pioneering initiative tailored to encourage women to explore the world independently or with companions, through women-only tours commencing in 2025. These tours seek to amplify the role of women in the travel industry and are timed to coincide with International Women’s Day. An introductory 8% discount is available for bookings made up to May 31, ensuring accessibility to a wide audience. Furthermore, agents based in the UK and Ireland can earn £100 in Lifestyle shopping vouchers, or the equivalent in euros, for each eligible booking from March 8 to April 8.
Kelly Walker, the sales director for the UK and EU, expressed enthusiasm over this initiative, stating, ‘We’re very excited to announce our incentive scheme for women-only tours. Not only does it provide travel agents with well-deserved recognition for the hard work they do, but it also gives them a chance to encourage women to take on the challenge of seeing the world solo, as well as the option to make incredible memories with friends or family.’
The programme has been crafted following insights gleaned from research conducted with Journey Women and a survey involving over 1,000 female travellers. This research underscored the latent demand for travel options that cater specifically to women, with 65% of respondents indicating a preference for women-only or solo travel experiences. Meanwhile, 43% felt that the travel industry has historically overlooked solo female travellers, particularly those who are older.
These tours, accommodating a maximum of 24 guests, champion the ‘Make Travel Matter’ philosophy by integrating experiences that highlight local cultures and women-owned businesses. For instance, during the Country Roads of the Deep South tour, travellers will gain insights into the women’s civil rights movement. Meanwhile, another tour in Italy offers an opportunity to visit a woman-operated weaving association in Perugia. A third distinctive tour in Morocco includes a baking class at a women’s cooperative that empowers participants to pursue careers as chefs.
Kelly Jackson, EMEA managing director at Insight Vacations, emphasized the inclusive spirit driving these tours, articulating that they have been ‘carefully developed for women, by women to meet their unique needs whether it is exploring new cultures, overcoming their fears, or meeting new friends.’ Complementing this initiative is a dedicated social media group, ‘Insight Vacations Women-Only Travel Community,’ established on Facebook to facilitate discussions, travel tips, and shared experiences among women.
In summary, these women-only tours represent a significant leap towards empowering female travellers whilst championing inclusivity in global travel.
