ITASCA was built in 1961 by Dutch yard J & K Smit as an ocean-going tug and was transformed into a luxurious yacht in 1973 by her then owner William E. Simon, the US Secretary of the Treasury. She was built along with two sister ships, however is now the only surviving vessel. A far-cry from her original incarnation, today she is equipped with all modern-day amenities and state-of-the-art technologies, representing a truly fabulous ocean-going vessel.
A history-making yacht
ITASCA made history in 1994 as the first motor yacht of her kind to complete a 23-day voyage from west to east through the Northwest Passage. She has chartered a path across the world multiple times, rounding Cape Horn three times, proving herself as a true ocean-going vessel.

Featuring an impressive 750 nautical mile range, ITASCA is ideal for those looking to explore the world in elegant style. Indeed, she has made four trips to Antarctica, undertaking the dangerous journey through the Drake passage, and in 2014 she journeyed to within 570 nautical miles of the North Pole, before heading to New Zealand and Polynesia.
A sumptuous, modern yacht
ITASCA was extensively modernised throughout in 2000 and now boasts bow and stern thrusters, while her hull is reinforced and equipped to Lloyds highest standards, creating a true ocean-going vessel that is as comfortable going through polar ice as she is cruising the traditional blue-water havens of the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
Other fabulous features include a helipad with refuelling capabilities, large tenders, and an array of smaller tenders and toys, making her a great yacht for those who wish to enjoy every minute of their time on the water.

She also boasts a sumptuous décor completed to the most exacting standards. Her roomy interiors includes a large owner’s cabin located on its own deck for complete privacy, along with its own private terrace. The accommodation includes four further cabins, enabling ITASCA to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests. Rounding-out her luxurious facilities is a gym and sauna.
