HG Construction has been selected to undertake a major £69m development project in Leeds, transforming a former car park into a vibrant residential area. This project, named the BeckYard scheme, will deliver 375 homes and is a part of the South Bank regeneration initiative, aiming to revitalise the area.
Scheduled to be completed by early 2027, the BeckYard project is designed by the architectural firm Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher. The development will offer residents access to a range of modern amenities, including residents’ lounges, shared workspaces, events areas, and a gym. The scheme also provides for 226 cycle spaces and 46 car parking spaces, catering to contemporary urban living needs.
An interesting aspect of the project is the integration of roof gardens, which will be available on the first, ninth, and fourteenth floors, providing green space in an urban environment. Such features are increasingly popular as they offer residents an opportunity to enjoy outdoor spaces without leaving their building.
Funding for the BeckYard scheme is provided by European fund manager Heim Global Investor, along with support from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Brownfield Housing Fund, reflecting a collaboration that ensures the successful execution of the project. This strategic funding ensures that the project can proceed smoothly without financial hindrances.
Adam Quinn, chief executive of HG Construction, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with McLaren Living, remarking: “We are delighted that McLaren Living has chosen HG as their partner of choice for their BeckYard scheme in Leeds.” This marks HG Construction’s third venture in the Leeds area and further strengthens their portfolio in collaboration with McLaren Group.
The BeckYard scheme promises to significantly enhance the Leeds South Bank region, introducing modern living spaces and amenities.
