Havila Voyages is set to resume its coastal voyages with the Havila Pollux following the successful replacement of an electric motor. This comes after the vessel experienced technical difficulties, prompting a necessary stop at Fosen Shipyard for warranty work.
The disruption affected several passengers whose journeys with the Havila Pollux were abruptly interrupted. Options were provided for passengers, allowing them to continue their planned travel on alternative ships or to partake in the upcoming round trip commencing from Bergen.
Bent Martini, CEO of Havila Voyages, articulated the collaborative effort between the company, Fosen Shipyard, and various partners to ensure the swift repair of the vessel. ‘Together with our partners and our own staff, a tremendous effort has been made to get Havila Pollux back on track, and we are delighted to be able to resume our voyage along the coastal route tomorrow,’ he stated.
The cruise line has made significant advances in reducing its environmental impact, achieving a 37% drop in CO2 emissions through its adoption of more sustainable technologies rather than relying on fossil fuels. ‘We have new and modern ships, built for the future and designed to contribute to reducing emissions in shipping,’ Martini observed, underscoring the company’s vision for future sustainability efforts.
Furthermore, Havila Voyages is making strides in reducing onboard waste. The company had set a goal to limit food waste to a maximum of 75 grams per passenger per day. Reports indicate that this target has been surpassed by a substantial margin, leading to a projected annual reduction of over 60 tonnes in food waste, reflecting the efficiency of its operational measures.
Havila Voyages successfully addresses technical challenges and continues its commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.
