Building contractor Beard has initiated a significant expansion at the Wadswick Green retirement complex, situated on a historical site near Corsham in Wiltshire. This development marks a crucial phase in the completion of the retirement village, which aims to cater comprehensively to the housing needs of its residents. As the project progresses, it promises to enhance community living through thoughtful design and efficient infrastructure.
The £18.1 million project will see the construction of two additional apartment blocks, which will culminate the development of Wadswick Green by Rangeford Villages. Once complete, these blocks will provide 45 new apartments for aspiring residents looking for a comfortable and secure retirement living space. This expansion continues the vision of creating an inviting and sustainable community environment.
Each of the new three-storey apartment blocks will be given unique communal features. One block is designed with four communal cores, which are inclusive of separate entrance halls, passenger lifts, and staircases. The other block, slightly different in layout, will have three communal cores, ensuring ease of accessibility and community interaction.
The integration of modern, energy-efficient technologies stands out in this construction project. It will employ air source heat pumps alongside photovoltaic arrays to deliver heating and supplemental electricity throughout the apartment structures. Each residence will also benefit from mechanical ventilation systems with heat recovery, accentuating comfort and reducing energy consumption significantly.
The architectural blueprint for this expansion is crafted by Quattro Design, with Hydrock acting as the consulting engineer. Their collaborative involvement in the project is anticipated to align with the completion aim of November 2025, promising a timely enhancement to this notable retirement village.
The expansion at Wadswick Green epitomises a forward-thinking approach to retirement living, combining modern efficiencies with community-focused housing solutions.
