GMI Construction Group has commenced work on a substantial £23 million development at Fradley Park in Staffordshire, as part of a contract with Evans Property Group. This initiative highlights an important addition to the industrial landscape of the region, aiming to deliver a state-of-the-art industrial and distribution scheme.
The construction, which is now underway, is set to include two warehouses, measuring 204,500 sq ft and 78,500 sq ft, designed to attain BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status and an EPC A rating. This focus on high efficiency and environmental performance underscores the forward-thinking nature of this project.
The completion of the development is anticipated by the second quarter of 2025, at which time the facilities are expected to be ready for occupancy. Located near Lichfield, Fradley Park itself boasts over 300 acres dedicated to distribution, manufacturing, and warehousing, making it a pivotal site in the area.
GMI’s involvement with Fradley Park is not new, having previously been integral in delivering other significant facilities there. Among these are a 437,000 sq ft distribution centre for a major online retailer, a 130,000 sq ft facility for a furniture company, and an expansive 800,000 sq ft centre for a large supermarket chain. This extensive experience has solidified GMI’s reputation in executing complex projects within the park.
Gareth Jones from GMI Construction noted the importance of collaborations with local supply chains and developer clients, emphasising the quality of facilities that attract high-profile tenants. His comment reflects GMI’s commitment to maintaining high standards and strengthening partnerships with Evans Property Group as the development progresses.
This expansion marks a critical step forward in the evolution of Fradley Park’s industrial capabilities.
