UK construction firm Glencar has finalised the development of a significant logistics facility, spanning 209,000 sq ft, at the G-Park Basingstoke site. This accomplishment was achieved in collaboration with Wrenbridge, along with financial backing from Bridges Fund Management and the involvement of global logistics operator GLP. Located on Priestley Road within the Houndmills Industrial Area, this strategic site houses key players including Sainsbury’s, Royal Mail, and XPO Logistics, further highlighting its industrial significance.
The newly completed building is noteworthy for its sustainable design, boasting an EPC A+ certification alongside a BREEAM Excellent rating. Such credentials underline the project’s commitment to environmental standards and sustainable construction practices. In addition, the facility incorporates features aimed at enhancing efficiency and operational effectiveness, including a clear internal height of 15M, substantial floor loading capacity, and an expansive yard depth of 47m.
Among the advanced amenities, the facility includes 19 dock doors, two level access doors, nine HGV parking spots, and 162 car parking spaces, complemented by a gatehouse. Office operations are supported by 10,829 sq ft of space distributed over two storeys. Such specifications depict a development that is engineered for optimal functionality and capacity.
Roy Jones, Managing Director of Glencar’s London and South division, expressed pride in the achievement, highlighting the project’s advanced features. He emphasised that the intelligent energy-saving systems and photovoltaic panels integrated within the facility are expected to substantially improve operational efficiency while delivering noteworthy cost savings. Moreover, Jones lauded the dedication of the team in delivering a ‘top-class development’.
