In a significant leadership transition, Freedom Fibre, a prominent alternative fibre network provider in the North West, has announced the appointment of Nathan Vautier as its new Chief Executive Officer. This move comes as Neil McArthur, the founder of the company, steps aside from his CEO position to assume a strategic role while continuing his involvement as a board member. McArthur’s influence has been pivotal in shaping the company’s achievements and securing long-term contracts like the one with TalkTalk.
Neil McArthur, an industry stalwart recently recognised as an Honorary Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering, has expressed confidence in Vautier’s capabilities. “After nearly 30 years in the telecoms sector it’s time I stepped down from the front line,” McArthur stated. His career, marked by pivotal roles since the deregulation of the sector in 1996, has been instrumental in the foundation and expansion of Freedom Fibre. McArthur’s continued presence in the company will ensure a smooth transition and ongoing strategic contributions.
Nathan Vautier joins Freedom Fibre with extensive experience, having held various senior leadership roles across the telecoms sector, beginning with infrastructure roles at Ericsson and later at Sony Ericsson, EE, and Brightstar Corporation. His recent achievements include leading Box Broadband through a successful business transformation and its seamless integration into Community Fibre following its acquisition.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Vautier commented, “I am honoured to be joining Freedom Fibre at such an important stage of its journey.” His appointment underscores the company’s commitment to long-term success through customer-centric innovation and operational excellence. Under his leadership, Freedom Fibre aims to enhance its footprint by leveraging existing partnerships and driving direct sales.
Backed by substantial infrastructure investment from InfraBridge, a division of DigitalBridge, along with Equitix and national ISP TalkTalk, Freedom Fibre is strategically poised for further growth. The recent merger with VX Fiber’s UK operations complements the company’s ambitious plans for nationwide expansion. This development reflects Freedom Fibre’s intent to play a significant role in enhancing connectivity and infrastructure across the UK.
The appointment of Nathan Vautier as CEO marks a new era for Freedom Fibre, perpetuating its growth trajectory while capitalising on strategic partnerships and investments.
