Frasers Group has transitioned Coggles to an online-only format.
- The standalone Coggles store has been replaced by a Flannels boutique.
- Frasers completed the acquisition of Coggles from THG in June.
- The Manchester-based digital platform operates independently under Frasers.
- Flannels aims to expand its luxury presence across the UK.
Following its acquisition by Frasers Group in June, Coggles has undergone a significant transformation. The former standalone store in Alderley Edge, which initially opened in 2017 within a renovated NatWest bank, has now been reimagined. This location reopened at the end of October as a Flannels boutique, offering a curated selection of luxury clothing and accessories.
The transition to an online-only model for Coggles marks a strategic pivot by Frasers, emphasising the company’s focus on digital platforms. David Epstein, Frasers’ managing director of premium and luxury divisions, confirmed that Coggles will continue to operate digitally with a dedicated team based in Manchester. This move is part of a broader strategic partnership formed with THG, integrating Frasers Plus credit into the Ingenuity platform.
The decision to convert the Alderley Edge store aligns with Frasers Group’s broader ambition to extend the reach of the Flannels brand. By replacing Coggles’ physical presence with Flannels, Frasers aims to enhance its luxury offering across the UK, effectively meeting its goal to infiltrate every corner of the country with high-end fashion.
Epstein has articulated this ambition clearly, placing Flannels at the forefront of Frasers’ luxury strategy. The integration of Coggles into an online-only format highlights Frasers’ commitment to leveraging its digital assets to ensure maximum efficiency and reach.
Frasers Group’s strategic changes underscore its commitment to digital expansion, while reinforcing Flannels’ role as a central brand in its luxury retail strategy.
