In a significant contribution to road safety education, Forterra loaned one of its lorries to the CarKraft safety event held at Silverstone. This annual initiative, partnered with Northamptonshire Highways, marks Forterra’s third consecutive year of participation. The event is designed to educate young drivers about essential road safety principles, thus aiming to prevent avoidable accidents.
During the event, new and young drivers, primarily aged between 17 and 30, were afforded the opportunity to learn about road safety in a variety of scenarios and vehicles. The inclusion of Forterra’s HGV served a pivotal role by emphasising the awareness of blind spots, a frequent issue contributing to road mishaps. Attendees also experienced safety demonstrations in vehicles ranging from Volvo cars to high-performance Porsches, providing a comprehensive understanding of driving safety across different contexts.
Keith Millard, representing Northamptonshire Highways, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s impact, stating, “We’re delighted to host yet another safety event aimed at equipping young drivers with safety-savvy practices. The continued support of companies such as Forterra is immensely helpful in getting this message across.” His statement underscores the collaborative effort required to reinforce road safety education.
Rory Locker, area transport manager at Forterra, highlighted the success and importance of these educational events. He affirmed, “We believe that events like this are incredibly important. Our drivers are vital to Forterra as a company, and safety is of course a priority.” His remarks reflect the company’s commitment to community safety and its proactive approach in educating young drivers to prevent accidents.
