FedEx Express UK has reported an impressive financial performance over the past year, with a turnover increase to £584.2 million. This growth was primarily driven by the transfer of trade and assets from the sister company, FedEx UK, in April 2022. Such strategic decisions have evidently contributed significantly to the company’s financial health.
Pre-tax profit saw a 39.3% rise, reaching £38.3 million, up from £27.5 million in the preceding year. The increased profitability illustrates not only effective cost management but also enhanced operational efficiency that FedEx Express UK has managed to achieve.
During the financial year ending 31 May 2023, the company also noted a 31% rise in operating profit, which stood at £38.8 million. Contributing to this growth was an increase in the average number of employees from 6,439 to 6,904—a change attributed mainly to the transfer of staff from FedEx UK in 2022.
In a move towards sustainability, last October saw FedEx awarded £150,000 by the government to collaborate with Electric Assisted Vehicles. This partnership aims to develop an electrically assisted lightweight delivery vehicle, potentially replacing older petrol and diesel vans and reducing the company’s carbon footprint.
Further underscoring their commitment to environmental responsibility, FedEx has initiated a shift from diesel to biofuels at three UK depots. This transition marks an important step in the company’s endeavour to decrease fleet emissions.
FedEx Express UK’s strategic initiatives and sustainable practices have culminated in notable financial growth and environmental progress in 2023.
