Explora Journeys is setting a new standard in luxury travel with its carefully curated shore excursion programme for Explora I, the first of what is planned to be a fleet of six ships. Serving as the inaugural offering, this programme will feature eight distinct sailings across Northern Europe, perfectly combining the allure of renowned destinations with the discovery of seldom-visited locations such as Ísafjörður in Iceland.
The cruise line promises an enriched travel experience through excursions designed for small, intimate groups ranging from two to 25 guests. These excursions are crafted to offer highly personalised and exclusive interactions, focusing on ‘off-the-beaten-path’ encounters and emphasising a slower, more immersive travel experience.
In Norway, for instance, travellers can participate in a guided Nordic walking tour and enjoy a voyage aboard a Viking ship leading to a historic 18th century fishing village. Similarly, a kayaking adventure awaits in Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen, providing a unique way to explore the city’s waterways.
Further north in the Faroe Islands, guests have the opportunity to engage in open-air yoga sessions or embark on a hike to witness the breathtaking floating lake in Leitisvatn. Meanwhile, in Iceland, a helicopter tour delivers unparalleled views of Reykjavik’s volcanic craters, offering a sweeping perspective of the dramatic terrain.
Other remarkable experiences on offer include a forest hike paired with meditation in Goteborg, Sweden, and premium access to culturally significant events in the United Kingdom, such as the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and a private tour of an esteemed Scottish whisky distillery.
Sacha Rougier, head of itinerary planning and destination experiences, explained, ‘When creating our experiences, we focus on understanding the essence of each destination and unique ways to immerse guests in local culture, cuisine, and hidden treasures.’ This philosophy underscores Explora Journeys’ dedication to distinguishing its services from those of competitors through an extensive range of offerings deeply rooted in the destinations explored.
Following its naming ceremony on 8 July 2023 in Civitavecchia, Explora I will depart for Southampton to commence its maiden journey on 17 July. Furthermore, the anticipated Explora II is set to launch in 2024, expanding its voyage to include the Mediterranean, Middle East, Indian Ocean, and African regions, anticipated to visit 82 ports across 26 countries.
Explora Journeys is redefining luxury cruising with exclusive, culturally immersive experiences.
