- One in four home deliveries involve consumers with disabilities.
- Evri has partnered with Scope to enhance workplace inclusivity.
- New features allow consumers to customise delivery preferences.
- A £125,000 donation supports Scope’s mission for equality.
Evri has embarked on a mission to ensure greater accessibility for individuals living with disabilities through a series of innovative doorstep delivery improvements. With their research indicating that one in four home deliveries caters to consumers with disabilities, Evri is committed to becoming a leader in accessible parcel delivery services. By forming a strategic three-year partnership with the disability equality charity Scope, Evri aims to integrate disability inclusion within their operational framework, thereby creating a more inclusive and equitable logistics industry for all.
The collaboration with Scope is directed towards instigating substantial improvements both for Evri’s consumers and employees. Scope will play a pivotal role in evaluating Evri’s practices, offering vital insights, and helping develop comprehensive training packages to foster a more inclusive environment. In support of Scope’s overarching mission to achieve equality for disabled individuals, Evri has pledged a donation of £125,000.
These enhancements include allowing consumers who require additional time to reach their doors the option to signal for more time and to specify if the doorbell should be rung instead of knocking. Consumers can now seamlessly add their specific delivery preferences to their accounts, ensuring a tailored delivery experience for every parcel handled by Evri. Furthermore, testing is underway for a screen reader tool accompanied by website modifications to support accessibility needs such as ADHD, illustrating a forward-thinking approach in incorporating technology to address diverse consumer requirements.
Echoing the sentiment of inclusion, Martijn de Lange, Evri’s Chief Executive, highlighted the significance of these advancements: “Our own research shows that one in four people rely on home deliveries to maintain their independence or improve the quality of their life.” This commitment signifies a substantial step towards Evri’s ambition of being recognised as the most accessible courier company.
Amanda Mitchell, Executive Director of Fundraising at Scope, commended the company’s efforts, stating: “We are encouraged that Evri is prioritising addressing disability inequality in its business and is committed to learning and improving its practices.” She underscored the profound impact of cooperation, expressing optimism that such synergies will foster significant social change, crafting a future where disabled individuals enjoy equal opportunities.
Evri’s initiatives mark a significant step towards enhancing delivery accessibility and equality for disabled individuals.
