Stockport-based Donellon Contractors has taken delivery of two of the first HX25Az mini excavators in the UK, marking a significant step in the company’s operational capabilities. Launched earlier this year, the 2.5-tonne zero-tailswing HX25Az represents Hyundai’s new generation A-Series mini excavators. These machines are specifically designed to be transported using a 3.5-tonne trailer, offering flexibility and convenience for contractors who need to move equipment swiftly between job sites.
Rick Eyre, the company owner, expresses enthusiasm for the new additions, stating, “We bought the HX25Az with Digadoc trailers, as we can tow them on a van or a pick-up with buckets, a breaker, and a grab.” This acquisition is a strategic move for Donellon, a relatively young firm already employing over 20 staff and executing contracts across various regions. Their equipment lineup, which now includes two HX25Az minis, also features an HX85A midi excavator and a 30-tonne HX300A, apart from site dumpers and other essential tools.
Donellon Contractors operates within the demolition, remediation, and civil sectors, focusing predominantly on highways, rail, and commercial projects. Eyre notes, “We provide a full turnkey package and we like the specialist works that some other companies don’t want to tackle.” This niche positioning allows them to work efficiently and safely, aligning with their clients’ expectations and needs. The firm prides itself on being booked out for the next six months, reflecting a steady demand for their comprehensive services.
The new Hyundai machines, supplied by Manchester-based HES Enterprises, are expected to further enhance Donellon’s operational efficiency. The company plans to acquire additional equipment, including a 5-tonne mini excavator and two 13-tonne machines, in the near future. This expansion underscores Donellon’s commitment to maintaining cutting-edge capabilities in their service offerings.
Donellon Contractors’ adoption of Hyundai’s latest excavators exemplifies their strategic focus on efficiency and comprehensive service provision.
