Podfather’s logistics software has been instrumental in helping Andrews Tipper Hire, a company that specialises in tipper haulage and aggregate delivery, to secure a major contract with Balfour Beatty. The project focuses on the Junction 10 improvement works on the M25, near Wisley in Surrey. Rainham-based Andrews Tippers operates a fleet of over 100 trucks, dedicated to delivering aggregates and removing waste material from the site. By using the Podfather system, the company has significantly reduced administrative tasks, enhanced efficiency, and provided total visibility of operations.
According to Michael Ward, Balfour Beatty’s logistics coordinator, Podfather’s contribution was pivotal in selecting Andrews as the haulage partner. “The use of Podfather on this project was a contributing factor in our selection of Andrews as haulage partner. Digital ticketing, real-time visibility and enhanced reporting all make for a more efficient and more reactive operation.” With the Podfather App, Andrews’ drivers receive detailed load information, and management teams from both Andrews and Balfour Beatty benefit from real-time tracking to maintain complete oversight. Furthermore, drivers use the app to capture evidence of loads collected and delivered, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
Podfather facilitates intelligent load planning and allocation, as Andrews deploys 30 vehicles dedicated to the project. Digital tickets detailing collection and delivery locations, and the type of material, are transmitted directly to drivers’ tablets. Moreover, each shift begins with vehicle checks, with results logged within Podfather for compliance and health and safety tracking. Andrews manages a daily movement of 150 to 300 loads, with the app recording all relevant data, including date, time, and location-stamped photographs, thus enabling comprehensive daily reports and assisting in billing processes.
Transport manager Tim Page emphasises that “Podfather simplifies the management of a complex, fast-moving and ever-changing schedule.” Complete visibility of driver location, materials in transit, and destinations allows both Andrews and their clients to react swiftly to changing situations. The technology not only enhances onsite performance but also streamlines reporting processes, reducing time spent on generating daily reports to mere minutes.
The data-driven insights provided by Podfather allow Andrews Tippers to evaluate project efficiency, comparing material usage internally and externally. The digital nature of Podfather’s platform minimises time lost in transferring data between systems, maintaining information accessibility at all times. Tim Page further praises Podfather, asserting, “Podfather is a really great tool and I believe it plays a big role in our overall logistics function.”
The integration of Podfather software has proven pivotal for Andrews Tippers, enabling efficient operations and enhancing project delivery on the M25.
