Wains Transport, based in Devon, has observed a notable improvement in fuel efficiency across its fleet, attributing this success to the inclusion of two Actros L tractor units. These units are consistently outperforming other vehicles within the company’s 25-strong convoy, according to Aaron Wain, the company’s Managing Director.
In a strategic move to enhance its operational fleet, Wains Transport recently took delivery of a second Mercedes-Benz Actros L 2553. This model is equipped with a GigaSpace cab and is powered by a 12.8-litre in-line six-cylinder engine, which is contributing to its superior fuel efficiency.
Aaron Wain expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Actros L units, noting, “We don’t measure mpg obsessively, because there’s a lot of variation in the work our trucks do, but the Actros are consistently better than any other tractor in our line-up by a noticeable margin.” This statement underscores the efficiency and reliability these units bring to the company’s logistical operations.
Further reflecting on the operational benefits, Wain pointed out the comfort the Actros L provides for its drivers. He mentioned that with drivers often being on the road all week, the Actros L offers a ‘home-from-home’ experience, highlighting the importance of driver comfort in maintaining productivity and satisfaction.
In a nod to British heritage and company spirit, Wains Transport has commissioned artwork on its latest HGV. This new livery features a representation of Sir Winston Churchill’s indomitable bulldog spirit, specifically his famous ‘V for Victory’ salute. Such artistic and thematic elements reinforce the brand identity and morale across the fleet.
Wains Transport specialises in bulk tipper and low-loader tasks, alongside general haulage services. The company operates nationwide, running its vehicles from the Kingsford Rural Business Centre, conveniently located near the M5, allowing efficient access and distribution across the UK.
Wains Transport’s strategic adoption of Actros L units underscores a commitment to efficiency and driver satisfaction.
