Dachser UK, a prominent international logistics operator, has recently opened an expansive new warehouse at its Brackmills, Northampton base. This additional facility, encompassing 112,000 sq ft, aims to address the increasing demand for storage and distribution services. The extra capacity accommodates an additional 20,000 pallets, signifying a substantial enhancement to the company’s storage capabilities.
Strategically positioned, the facility is adjacent to Dachser UK’s central domestic and international distribution hub, facilitating efficient operations to all UK and European destinations. This strategic location within the UK’s ‘golden triangle’ further optimises the integration with air and sea logistics networks worldwide, ensuring seamless logistics solutions for their customers.
The warehouse features modern infrastructure with an internal clearance of twelve metres, ten dock level loading doors, and two additional ground level doors. Notably, the facility holds a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’, reflecting its commitment to sustainability, and comes equipped with top-tier LED lighting systems and lithium-ion battery powered handling equipment for operational efficiency.
Ian Brunt, Dachser Northampton’s general manager and head of contract logistics, emphasised the strategic intent behind this development. He stated, “Acquiring this additional warehouse I believe demonstrates Dachser’s continued desire to grow contract logistics within the UK.” This expansion not only showcases Dachser’s ability to cater to diverse industry sectors—including DIY, industrial, retail, wines and spirits, and consumer goods—but also highlights the company’s ambition to enhance its high-quality logistics services across broader markets.
Dachser’s multi-user site model enables the company to efficiently manage contract logistics operations for various sectors, thus providing comprehensive solutions to a wide range of customers. The company now commands over 400,000 sq ft of warehousing space in Northampton, positioning itself as a leading logistics centre of excellence in the UK.
