A Cumbrian haulage firm, specifically family-operated HBP Transport, is making strides in operational efficiency and compliance through the adoption of a new transport management system. Initially, the company sought only to replace its existing vehicle tracking system, but after discussions with HaulTech, opted for a comprehensive TMS solution.
Specialising in plant equipment and waste management, the Barrow-in-Furness based haulier oversees 16 HGVs and 24 vans. The decision to choose HaulTech came after evaluating numerous providers, primarily due to HaulTech’s ability to deliver a full package that includes tracking, vehicle defect checks, and job planning, extending from booking to invoicing.
Julie Cooper, HBP Transport’s administrator, highlighted the inefficiencies of their past systems, stating, “We had a tracking system but had found that it didn’t give us the information we needed in terms of reporting and compliance.” The transition to HaulTech’s TMS represents a strategic move to enhance operational agility while ensuring stringent compliance protocols.
HaulTech has asserted that its TMS can potentially decrease administrative processes by up to 80%, providing a substantial opportunity for the firm to cut down on operational costs. HBP Transport is now utilizing core features like vehicle defect checks, app-based PoDs, and comprehensive job management and vehicle tracking, which collectively streamline operations significantly.
Cooper noted the transformative impact of going paperless with HaulTech, observing, “The TMS is great for managing jobs from start to finish… HaulTech automates a lot of that work, so going paperless has definitely speeded up those processes.” This digital leap forward evidences a significant efficiency upgrade for the firm.
HBP Transport’s investment in HaulTech’s TMS marks a pivotal enhancement in operational efficiency and compliance.
