The prestigious Cordwainers Footwear Awards 2024 celebrated its milestone tenth anniversary at Saddlers’ Hall, London, highlighting rising talents in footwear design.
The competition showcased 16 promising students from renowned institutions such as the London College of Fashion and De Montfort University, aiming for the esteemed awards.
Launched in 2014, the Cordwainers Footwear Awards have consistently honoured emerging designers in the footwear industry. Celebrating its tenth year, this prestigious event continues to be a beacon of excellence, showcasing innovative designs and inspiring creativity among young designers. This year’s ceremony was grander, reflecting the awards’ growing significance in the fashion world.
Joining them were Joachim Sedelmeier of Paul Smith and renowned designer Charlotte Olympia Dellal. Their collective expertise ensured a rigorous evaluation, aiming to recognise the best and most innovative designs.
Additional honours included the Sue Saunders Award for Excellence given to Sophia Webster, celebrating her outstanding contribution to the trade.
Joe Muir from De Montfort University received the Sneaker/Athleisure Award, acknowledging his innovative approach to modern footwear design.
Their designs were noted for creativity and craftsmanship, standing out among the numerous high-quality entries received this year.
