The successful completion of the first phase of Birmingham’s Bath House apartment complex marks an important milestone in the city’s redevelopment efforts. Situated on the historical site of a former public bathhouse, the complex merges modern amenities with a nod to its historical roots. The site, located on Bromsgrove Street, features 279 rental apartments distributed across four separate blocks.
This newly constructed environment seeks to attract tenants by offering a wide array of facilities, including a multi-purpose reception lounge, dedicated work-from-home spaces, a gym, a golf simulator, a yoga studio, a gaming room, an external courtyard, and a kitchen and dining area available for private hire. The design of the Bath House reflects a distinct fusion of functionality and contemporary style.
Scheduled for completion by the end of this year, an additional 127 units will finalise the development of this 2.25-acre site. The project’s buildings range from seven to eighteen storeys, showcasing a substantial residential offering for the region. Managed by Edmond de Rothschild’s own private rental sector platform, the development is part of a strategic effort to address housing demands while supporting regional economic growth.
The Bath House development, initially unveiled in 2017, is lauded for its strategic planning and timely execution. According to DJ Dhananjai, Chief Investment Officer at Edmond de Rothschild Real Estate Investment Management, ‘The project delivers high-quality residential stock in our preferred regeneration areas across the UK at rents that are affordable locally.’ His statement underscores a commitment to providing accessible housing solutions while enhancing urban revitalisation efforts.
The significance of the Bath House is enhanced by its location on the former Kent Street Baths, once the site of Birmingham’s first public swimming and bathing facilities provided by the Birmingham Baths Committee. Although newer constructions replaced the original structures in 1930, they succumbed to dereliction before being demolished. Today, the Bath House stands as a testament to the enduring importance of residential investment in historic areas.
